RFX-mod 2009 CALL FOR EXPERIMENTAL PROPOSAL

Starting from these achievements, and considering the guidelines provided by the seven missions identified in the EFDA workplan, the 2009 RFX-mod science & technology programme is organized around three main projects:
1.understanding the RFP physics and confinement optimization to assess the configuration fusion potential. This requires to improve the knowledge on the high current regime, to optimize performance and understanding of improved confinement helical states and to prepare the background for future 2 MA operation.
2.to contribute to the fusion community effort on MHD mode control studies in plasmas with temperatures and densities as close as possible to tokamak ones (e.g. RWM stabilization, Tearing Modes control, development and test of new control algorithms, simultaneous control of multiple modes, ?)
3.to contribute to the understanding of fusion science, in particular to: test tokamak physics at low field, improve predictive capabilities for the ?numerical tokamak?, and study analogies and synergies with the stellarator.

Consorzio RFX is strongly committed to provide, with RFX-mod, a facility open to the needs of the international fusion communities, and to realize an experimental programme fully integrated in the European effort for fusion and in the international RFP strategy.

SCOPE OF THE MEETING

•A forum to discuss the experimental proposals and prepare the 2009 RFX-mod campaign
•An opportunity for external collaborators to learn about the RFX-mod research program
•An opportunity to improve the integration of the RFX-mod programme into the international fusion effort
