Consorzio RFX is the Padua group for fusion research, in which the major Italian bodies involved in fusion (CNR, ENEA, INFN) and the University of Padua participate.

Fusion reactions occur naturally in the Sun and the stars and the liberated energy, radiated to our Planet, allows life. Researchers are trying to reproduce similar reactions on Earth to obtain virtually unlimited energy with no carbon dioxide emissions.
In Padua we are involved in the study of the magnetic confinement of fusion plasmas with the RFX-mod2 experiment:
and with the development and testing of the main heating system of ITER, the future experimental reactor under construction in France.
